Once upon a time, "Le Domaine de Pont Royal !"
Gaetan has a dream: to create a huge real estate complex around a golf course and decides to make it happen. A man of charisma, he manages to federate and inspire around his unique project and is inspired by the golf course of La Manga in Spain.
After many exchanges and negotiations, Gaetan collaborates with the mayor of Mallemort, Daniel Conte and with the support of Claude Roger Cartier, President of the French Golf Federation, creates a complex arrangement which leads to the creation in 1989 of the ZAC, a concerted development zone, an implementation agreement and a development plan for this zone.
Many plots are detached to bring this fabulous project to fruition! But to build, you must now surround yourself! It is the British company LONDON METROPOLITAN, developer, which takes up the challenge. The American architecture firm EDSA is retained to draw the first sketches of the project.
The first groundbreaking began at the end of 1989 with the creation of the hamlet of the waterfall. Then comes the construction of the 18-hole golf course designed by Sévériano Ballesteros and its inauguration in September 1992.
Construction around the golf course continues with the first buildings in the village of the church and its bell tower. Unfortunately, shortly after, the golf war put a brake on the project and many investors delayed or even canceled their project. But we must not give up, the project is launched, we must build!
But how do you reinvigorate investment?
That's when Pierre et Vacances comes into the picture! With their expertise, he proposes to expand the offer by creating a lake, a large aquatic center and related activities (tennis, horse riding, etc.). Their strategy was adopted and led to the modification of the development plan for the area. In 1998, Pierre & Vacances handed over to an American group: the company Pont Royal golf was created and took on the role of developer to finalize the project. In 2006, a second village was created by MGM: the campanile village. Then a second golf course: the Durance golf course in 2009.
At the heart of this project, the KAUFMAN & BROAD group created a new real estate complex: the golf villas. 30 years will have passed with its share of effort, hardship, joy and encounters and the construction of the estate is coming to an end.
